Everyone complains of how they're set to lean and the engine needs to be choked to start and to run. Mine just never idled smoothly at all!

The carb low speed jets are sealed EPA so its not obvious they are present and adjustable. This is a 5 minute job so no reason to put this off. The attached PDF shows how to get at the adjustment needles. It may need more fine tuning as I run it more. The caps are just a thin metal plug. I used a dremel cut off wheel to cut through the center and then a small screw driver to pry out.

The shaft looks to be a little short. Through may research its short by 10mm. I think there's a washer used with the pto shaft that can me shaved or not even used that can make up for the 10mm difference?? Talking to a couple of people they say that the charging system on these predator engines will not run the pto, and will drain the battery. Can't find the charging system for these engines, but what I found on the net is that they only have like 2 amps. Is this enough to run the pto??

Is there a way to take the stator charging system off the kohler flywheel included and put it on the predator so the amps increase??

Is there a way to increase the amp output of these predator engines??? Any input would be awesome, just trying to get this mower going again Male, from Texas. Messages: 1, Im pretty sure 2amps isn't enough. Im also sure you can't change it over to the Kohler charging system. Also if the washer on the shaft is between the engine and pulleys you won't be able to remove it.

Basically is there a clone engine, some people say these are Honda Engines and some say they are Kawasaki's, that I can take it's charging system and install it on the predator??? I have an old Vermeer chipper that's powered by a very tired Kohler Magnum 20hp engine. The old girl still runs, but I have to keep a close eye on the feed rate and the engine oil.

I see that Harbor Freight has a terrific price on their cc V-Twin engines, and those engines are getting pretty good reviews. I'm thinking of buying one to replace my old Kohler, since the whole engine will cost less than rebuilding the Kohler. But the thing is that the Kohler runs the pulley for the chipper off one end of the crankshaft, and the hydraulic pump for the feeder off the other end.

There's no doubt the HF engine will run the pulley, but I cannot find any information on whether it's possible to bolt that hydraulic pump up to the other end of the crankshaft.

I've even gone and looked at an engine in the store, but for some reason they don't want me taking the cover off so I can see the end of the crank.

So if you've purchased one of these engines, or seen one with the cover off, will it be possible to bolt an accessory onto the "other" end of the crankshaft? Reply With Quote. It runs the two PTO hydraulic pumps off the main drive shaft, and on the opposite side of the engine, Power Trac opened up the fan screen and bolted on a stub shaft and powers the tram pump off of that side of the engine.

Several years later, they switched to running all three pumps off just the shaft and did away with the stub shaft on the fan side. A friend bought a Predator replacement for his log splitter and everything lined up he was replacing a Honda, I think It has been working several years with no problems Good luck. Their customer service says that they can't offer any advice on adding another manufacturer's parts, and oh by the way, doing so will void the warranty. But it still looks like a good idea.
